The region of Inner Kartli
2 days / one night
About your host, Michael
Where we will be
We will tour the region of Inner Kartli, focusing on the local architectural and religious gems. These bastions of Georgian statehood and identity withstood centuries of invasion and imperial rule. Each stop has its own unique story and archeological treasures, surrounded by the natural beauty of the region.
What we’ll do
Transportation will be provided by four-wheel drive vehicles, taking us to hikes in the Tedzami valley. This area of Inner Kartli is a paradise for aficionados of historic architecture, incorporating Georgian churches and fortresses, while learning about the local history.
We will visit cultural monuments and castles dating back to the 7th, 13th and 18th centuries, as well as a spectacular 12th century stone arch bridge. We will see the fascinating remains of church frescoes, and examine the ornaments and ancient Georgian script of Asomtavruli. The sites offer magnificent panoramic views all year round.
